FCA Toronto, is a newly founded chapter of the historic, national Federation of Canadian Artists, short FCA -- a revival of the chapter that has not existed in Ontario since the early 1960's. Though many FCA artists based in Ontario (including myself) tried to establish an Ontario chapter over the years, the attempts always failed due to too little interest or too little organization talent. Finally, Alan Douglas Ray, a Toronto based artist, succeeded in creating enough interest among 'local' - or rather provincial - artists and founded the Toronto chapter last year. It has been growing rapidly since Alan and the small group of founding artists began accepting applications in early April. Our chapter now has 52 member artists who are joining from all corners of the province (plus BC and Quebec). Our first chapter-wide juried exhibition has been opening today (online) and is running until September 6th !!
Members also meet online every two weeks for an art chat about developments in the art business. Our mission is to offer exhibition, education, and networking opportunities to our member artists, to promote their artwork; and to advance the knowledge and appreciation of art and culture in our area. We are planning to host an open national exhibition later in the fall.

In further news, I'm fortunate to have been invited as the guest artist for the months of July and August at Victoria Park Gallery in Kincardine, ON. If you are in the area I invite you to check out my display of artworks as well as discover many talented local artists featured at the gallery.
My 10 x10' oil painting, "Siesta," has been accepted at the national juried show "Small Artworks" at the Federation Gallery in Vancouver and will be available for viewing and sale from August 17th to 30th.
If you are interested in art classes for either your child or yourself, I'm teaching one more art camp for 7 to 12 year-old from August 17th -21st at the Southampton Art School and one "Introduction to Watercolour" adult class is planned for August 25 at the Varna Pavillon through the newly established Bayfield Centre for the Arts. I will post more info on the Watercolour workshop when available.
